Dear reader,

The end is not the end…

After 2 years, the CSA Smart4Europe coordinating the SmartAnythingEverywhere initiative ended in August 2019. Nevertheless, the SAE initiative will continue and a new CSA taking care will start in January 2020. Until then several partners of the last CSA entered into the commitment to keep the basic services running including the website and this newsletter service. All newsletter subscribers will continue receiving the SAE news without further actions even after January 2020. To unsubscribe to our news service please send a short email to news@smartanythingeverywhere.eu

Enjoy reading our latest issue!

WHAT’S NEW

Insight Thoughts on Digital Innovation Hubs

What is the SAE initiative and Digital Innovation Hubs all about? Numerous videos deal with these topics and explain the scope of this initiative strongly supported by the European Commission.
The videos were filmed at the DIH Day 2019 in Stuttgart that brought together European digitisation initiatives and Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) with the ones situated in Baden-Wuerttemberg (south-western Germany) and its neighbouring countries Austria, Switzerland and France. Honoured to have Max Lemke, Head of Unit for “Technologies and Systems for Digitising Industry” from the European Commission as keynote speaker participants shared their concepts of the DIHs and initiatives, experiences and explored possible collaborations. Interactive discussion sessions were addressing questions such as “DIH offer and organisation”, “European network of DIHs” or “How can SMEs benefit”.

Find here all given presentations as well as videos. Main outcomes fed into a White Paper about “Digital Innovation Hubs supporting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises” issued at the upcoming EFECS 2019 event.

Digital workshop to improve investment readiness

You have missed our webinar “How to make investors falling in love with your company”? No problem! Find here the video and check your fundraising readiness with the assessment tool

Geraldine Andrieux Gustin, BLUMORPHO’s CEO and Founder who is collaborating with investors on a daily basis, introduces good practices and shares some tips on how to introduce yourselves to investors and to select the best investor profiles for your specific activities.

Horizon2020 funded project 5E to set up the vision for European Electronics Ecosystems Convergence

Let’s shape a joint vision for the European Electronics sector! Several workshops organised by the 5E consortium focus on the cooperation and mutual exchange of the three Electronics Areas: Nano-Electronics, Electronic Smart Systems and Flexible & Wearable Electronics.

Workshop #1 is co-located to #EFECS2019 and will take place in Helsinki on November 21 while workshop #2 will primarily target experts from the community of flexible & wearable electronics. It is supported and hosted by OE-A, the Organic and Printed Electronics Association (see https://oe-a.org/), a working group within VDMA.

Find further information as well as registration links online:

Further workshops will take place in 2020 and will be announced in time via the project’s website.

No time to attend the workshops? Then share your thoughts ONLINE. With the survey, partners in 5E are looking for input from the larger European electronics community in order to identify hot spots requiring further actions of the European electronics in near future.

Phase 3 of the Smart Anything Everywhere Initiative launched

Several new Innovation Actions (IA) and a new Coordination and Support Action (CSA) are in their Grant Agreement Preparation (GAP) at the moment. Their start is expected during the coming three months defining the launch of the third Phase of the SAE Initiative (compare SAE brochure, page 30).

In summary 19 consortia proposed actions in response to the Call H2020-DT-2019-1 that closed on 2 April 2019. The call addressed especially the technical Areas Cyber-Physical and Embedded Systems, Customised low energy omputing and Flexible and Wearable Electronics. Also actions widening Digital Innovation Hubs were encouraged to propose.

Several consortia already active in the SAE initiative were again among the successful proposers and will be able to continue their previous successful work together with new partners.

All new Actions will be introduced in a special issue of this newsletter as soon as all projects finalized their GAP and are ready to start.
